Well, it's Friday.
Again.
One week closer to spring.
I think.
I hope?
The other day, Me decided she really, really liked the blue, bird fabric. Enough that she bought a 1/2 yd. Something we almost never do!
Myself thought the striped fabric would go perfectly with the blue and green floral I picked out.
1/2 yds each.
Why don't we usually buy more than a 1/4 yd at a time?
We think buying fabric in smaller portions (LOL) forces us to constantly be on the look out for new fabric, encourages us to use what we have and we end up with lots of scraps for our scrappy quilts.
Maybe crazy, but it works for us.
Before I forget, check out Sew & Tell Friday Finishes!
I haven't been over to Amy's blog yet, but I'll catch you there later!
Last night, I made up another little New York Beauty using leftover fabric from Amy Butler's Love.
Marianne shared a beautiful quilt she's made of similar blocks. I've tried to convince her I'm worthy of a donation, but I don't think she's buying it!
I think I'll make more, I'm so inspired by her beautiful quilt.
Love the fabrics you are using. It would be exciting to see a whole quilt with this block.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful block! I have been buying in 1/2 yards lately, but if I find a deal I get 3 yards so I can strech with inserts to a backing so I totaly understand your logic!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your restraint in purchasing fabric! Your New York Beauty in the LOVE fabric is way cool!!! I like your other NY block too. Totally different looks. You have a great eye for fabrics and colors. I especially like how you chose the dot fabric for the points.
ReplyDeleteLove the eye-popping purpliness!!
ReplyDeleteHope to see you soon!

Love the blue birds--what kind is it?
ReplyDeleteYou and Marianne are the good example I need to get that NYB done for Jennifer - I'm such a chicken! But your examples show it can be done and how! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteaaaahh, I wish i had the 1/4 yard at a time habit Dee! When I started sewing, I made mainly clothes, so I have a three yard habit (I can usually make anything from a shirt to pants if I have three yards) that's proving hard to break! I love your New York Beauty block, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, love that blue bird fabric. I prob would have bought too much. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it. I made some NY Beauty blocks out of scraps, and it looks UGLY because none of the blocks look good with any of the other blocks. Your fabrics are divine, though.
ReplyDeleteDee this block is gorgeous...it looks so great. i love that blue birds fabric.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Love fabric! And the block pattern. I'll have to go check out the whole quilt when I'm not late getting my kids in the car for school :)
ReplyDeleteI like the purple and blue together. I can't wait to see the rest of this.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics! The blue birds are just too sweet! :o)
ReplyDeleteSincerely ~ Tricia
YOur new york beauty is beautiful and that shopping trip was successful!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty w/ Amy's "Love"!Love those colors!!
ReplyDeleteI also like small pieces of fabric, makes you think hard and it almost always turns out beautifully! Love the Love prints, they are just so pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful block, and I ADORE those prints..please do share the source for the birds?
ReplyDelete'Love' your New York Beauty block. One day I am going to attempt a block.
ReplyDeleteI love the new york beauty design! And this fabric! Cute! (i'm also partial to the blubirds too).
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us!
Wow, I love that block! Looks awesome in AB Love!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Would make an awesome quilt!
ReplyDeleteThat NY Beauty is so pretty. Love all your fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful block and I love the triangles!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Dee, but I think it's over between us. I now feel the need to hate you (just a little bit) for the constant whipping up and flaunting of New York Beauty blocks, which I have nightmares about. Okay, okay -- it's my own fault for being so perfectionistic that I now have to procrastinate ever facing one again. Shudder!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I hate to break it to you, but whether you buy FQs, 1/4, 1/2, or full yards, you will always be on the lookout for more fabric! You ARE a quilter!
Your whole blog is amazing! What great work!
ReplyDeleteLove the NY Beauty block~and your little fabric purchase! I should show some restraint and buy 1/4 yards, too!
ReplyDeleteYour block is fabulous I can see why you want more.
